(Here's a very old piece I found in one of my drawers. I'm posting it as homage to the place I used to live and was most inspired to write.)

Here I lay nestled beneath four dark walls of falling leaves
The wind whirls around me and dances with the candles
A melody entrances my lips with songs of unseen beauty
I can only hope such a song will be sung when I awake

Tears of joy run along my face, but I can't seem to smile
Such a fond happiness has found me, but I haven't yet found it in return
Perhaps one day I will know what to look for and where to find it
Until then, I can only hope that song will be sung when I awake

Very beautiful. The imagery is provoking and brings to mind pictures of past experiences. ~ Asheai

tears at the sight of nature? or perhaps a thought of a distant girl? either way, it is like a quetzacoatl

You're a counterpart that keeps this site alive, nemo. I hope this made those who write poetry as a result of the trend it's becoming never want to pick up a pen.
