Moonlight shines down on the lone figure
His pale hair the color of moonbeams
Stars flickering into life in the sky
Life flickering away from the creature far below
Always before, life was a game
Nothing o lose, the whole world to gain
But now he knows that it's all on the line
He took the bait, and now they've caught him.
Soft hands pull him into darkness
Death gazes up fondly, pulling him down
Falling into an ocean of oblivion
Screaming in agony, yet the silence is unbroken.
Always before, life was a game
Nothing to lose, the whole world to gain
to refuse to surrender, though Death holds him fast
Gentle as a lover, yet fierce as a warrior.
'Nowhere to hide', Death murmurs softly
'Just give in and be released from pain.
'Life is so harsh; death is sweet relief.
'Submit and come into the darkness with me...'
Always before, life was a game
Nothing to lose, the whole world to gain
his journey will not end here, as he will conquer Death
and someday he will return, and then they will pay.
A single light in a realm of darkness,
Reaching, straining, trying to grasp it
Wounds reopen; blood dyes his hair
Fingers brush the light; and the pain is gone...
Always before, life was a game
Nothing to lose, the whole world to gain
we hear the scream of rage behind
For he had escaped, and he laughs at Death...
Memory slips away, ice blue eyes flash open
Setting sun colors the hair blood red
Like the blood shed so long ago...
Like HIS blood shed so long ago...
Always before, life was a game
Nothing to lose, the whole world to gain
Now, once again, it's all on the line...
And we know it is no longer a game.
