I got up late
And missed the bus
And had to walk to school

My bruises ached
From getting hit
For not following the rules

I eat my lunch
All by myself
I don't have any friends

I'm always alone
And always afraid
And wish for the day to end

I walked the long way home
And stepped through my front door
When Daddy started taunting me

He yelled, he screamed
He raged on and on
The he started coming toward me

I ran away with terror
Seeping through my every pore
I hid and locked myself in the bathroom

I hid under the sink
And heard Daddy's angry steps
He broke down the door and came for me

He threw me
Against the wall
And I landed with a sickening crack

My head was bleeding
And my mind was spinning
As he picked me up and threw me again

Black dots danced in front of my eyes
I tried hard to stay conscious
While he jammed his foot into my rib cage

I heard some cracks
And then some more
As he kept beating me black and blue

My vision faded
And I was knocked out
But I never did awaken

My name is Susan Caroline Ray
And my Daddy murdered me today

this is gut wrenching ...at first quite misleading in it's simple diction and basic stanza arrangement, a forcible speed up like a rolerocaster as the poem then unfolds and the story is told..aargh, violence to woman, i feel sick.
