having once loved
only to be left alone
to pick up the pieces

in the midst of darkness and despair
what once was my heart shatters

falling like shards of broken glass
cutting away leaving an empty void

reaching out into the nite
no one is there

heart and soul battered beyond repair
face buried in my hands

weeping softly as i fall to my knees
i am left alone in the darkness
to pick up the pieces
