I gaze upon a moonless sky
Dreaming little dreams,
Nothing grand
Indeed nothing pretentious,
But in the eyes of my soul
A world of such wondrous splendor
I expose
Away I wander
It seems darkness cannot exist here,
Only the smiles that signal my delight
These sweeping meadows of vivid beauty
Bouquets of a million living things
With the warmth of a glowing sun
Assaulting my senses like a battering ram
I must refuse to abscond
Merely resist the need to ever awaken
Nothing more is needed on the other “side”,
All that I care to remember
Resides in this consciousness, in this image
A simple illusion of flawlessness
Or conspiracy of the mind
Yet it feels so real
And I feel so whole
