Jutted peaks of
Stalwart granite and quartz
Towering so high
Pointing to the heavens and beyond,
A line of snow
Capping the mountain like an impenetrable mantle
A million years, but a blink of an eye
As geological time goes
A natural monument in its own right
Stands lonely to the eye
That beholds it,
Yet gathered in the splendid company of
Of earth’s greatest assets
Though it sustains much life
It has taken a few
As a few brave souls try to master its “face”
So very few
Have witnessed the breathtaking splendor
Of its vista from above
To feel its cold breathe upon their faces
And the ominous chill deep in their souls
With this, forms an enduring union
Between seeker and sought
A solitary moment etched
In memories everlastingly
Always among us
Existing in infinity
Or a thousand million lifetimes
Giving as it has
Free will and salvation
(The name translates into "living Soul")
