A gaze,
Simple stares
Into the glass portrayer
Who is it that you see?
That person you know you are, inside?
Or the sad and troubled being
That everyone else perceives
The one who silently screams
For acceptance

Today,
You see no one
The slate is blank,
Just like you feel…
Saline nails
Secure your self imposed prison
Each one, tearing into your soul
Leaving ugly scars
That only you can see and feel

What will you see tomorrow?
A beauty and kindness
That, like most things,
You have rarely seen or experienced?
Or will the same blank stare
Confront and ridicule, as it always does?

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
So why are you stricken with a blindness
To your own allure, to that sweetness
That only you possess,
Jut wipe away your tears
Open your eyes and your mind,
Shed your cocoon
Spread your wings and soar
To the happiness you’ve never known

Let the feigned ugliness
Loose its last breath,
Breathe in a new reality
And the scars that caused you so much pain
Will finally heal

such an encourgaing disposition, rather than slapdash nightmare -ish images you represent a softer more appealing approach, not sure if dark poetry is befitting, but sanctuary is where it occurs, always with delight

a lovely message, makes me believe in the impossible.. if only more people would think this way and encourage each other, usually we only focus on what we're lacking and not what we already have.

"They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, So why are you stricken with a blindness To your own allure, to that sweetness That only you possess" this was both beautiful and thought-provoking..beautiful write.

such optimism obscures my vision; clouds my 'I'; is there not an absence that lies within... like a blind spot at the back of a retina? A fine, and much needed message; yet, I am convinced it is but a necessary fiction... though superbly expressed!!

This is beautiful, the words are placed perfectly, and the message is just right.
