A river runs through it
Brooding waters
Swirling and hissing,
Washed away, are impurities
Like that of a child’s naivety,
Sins of its past
Cleansed,
Strength courses within
Announcing its return
A hollowed life
Renewing,
Saturated by
An aural explosion,
Callously pounding stones
Whose tedious place within
Teeter on the brink of death
As these mighty waters
Bend earthen shores to its will
Carving a path with geologic precision
It delivers life
Though death always lingers near,
For one moment a rendered smile
Yet, another harvests sadness,
To look upon it, beguiled
At what lies below its sapphire transparency?
Misunderstood and mysterious, to me it speaks
Flowing on and on
Away to forever
Beyond to nothingness
