The last rays of sunlight
Bring shadows upon us
As the day relinquishes its hold
And twilight begins its bold march
To power
The fiery horizon fades to black
The sounds of life
Replaced with a placid still
We live reality in daylight
While twilight owns our dreams
What is not possible
Within the boundaries
Of our mundane existence
Is explored with passion in
The realm of our fantasies
We watch leaves blow by
Like metaphors, for the passing
Of years
Our lives played out a million times
Always ending the same
But dreams are ageless
Pursuing what may never be
While rewarded with riches
Beyond imagination
Twilight becomes a memory
As reality ascends once again..
Refreshed, we start again
As traces of our dreams
Permeate our thoughts
And a glimmer of hope
Fills our hearts
