Hear the sounds of rain
Triggering a streaming awareness
Unhurried breath
A sigh escapes
While the mind drifts
Amongst a liquid dreamscape

The transformation has begun…

Footsteps of distant memories
Echoing softly
Each one leading away
Another time, another place, a forgotten emotion
Come back to me, they whisper

Distant thunder,
Awakened, beckoning another look
Pointed stares to an ethereal beyond
The drops of rain that streak the pane
Match the tears that mark this pain

Like so many times before
This momentary lapse of reason
Fades to yet another memory
While reality awaits
Its prodigal son
