I sat shivering in the damp, cold night
Wishing to remove the fear far from sight

My heart felt such sorrow
Knowing there could be no tomorrow

Would my fate be heaven or hell?
Which one will my spirit feel?

Eyes were on me, as sharp as a tack
Friends and family even strangers in black

I see the hearts of lost loves.
And I wonder am I looking from below or above?

The rhyme could've died but it certainly is a very well-thought-out and well-worded piece! Nice Write!

I like it! I like the paired rhyming lines. It's a change from your usual style and adds some variety.
