The light fails…
As the day dies.
The shadows taking hold once again.
The sun flees,
From the falling night,
But how long these days have been.
This growing darkness…
Taking dawn;
The light that lives…
Will soon be gone.
The long shadows
Mingle with the dusk…
And are lost.
A rush of air fills my lungs…
I draw breath…
I awaken…
Leaving my asylum
In the safe shroud of night,
I turn my eyes
To the ebony skies…
The moon shining
So friendly;
So inviting;
And yet so cold.
I look for others
Not given to sleep,
I see none.
There is only me,
And the darkness.
I cannot help but smile…
