I have a pain only I can see
Like the dark of night
It’s right under your nose
But you’re too proud to suppose.

I try so hard to let it free
But always lose the fight.

I won’t tell them,
I can’t let them know.
I must look strong,
I must never let it show.

But it’s always there
It’s obvious to me.
You’ll eventually see.

I won’t tell them,
I can’t let them know.
I must look strong,
I must never let it show.

Separated by love,
Brought together by hate.
Loving is so dangerous,
Hating is safe.

But it hurts to be here,
All alone in this pain.
Looking content,
Feeling ashamed.

But given the alternative,
Loving then losing,
I’ll be much happier,
Without that kind of unnecessary abusing.
