If I could turn myself into sound
I would be the song to ease your pain
Be your sighs throughout the night
Your laugh in the morning light
If I could turn myself into wind
I'd be a warm breeze caressing your skin
I'd chase the clouds from your skies
Keep your kite way up high
But
When I awake from this fantasy
Reality waits for me
By that look in your eyes
I realize
I am only me
If I could turn into emotion
I would be the happiness you seek
The sadness in your lonely soul
And the love to fill that hole
If I could turn myself into God
I would change to right, what is wrong
I would answer your question why
Give you wings when you die
But
When I come out of this daze
You are there to slap away the haze
You remind
As He reminds
I am only me
I would be your dreams every night
The stars that fill your sky
I'd be the key that unlocks your door
The brass ring you are reaching for
But
You insist on telling me
These things will never be
Because
I am only me
I still have hope that one day
I won't bow my head when I say
I am only me
Yes, as you are only you
I am only me
