It's a dangerous thing
To fly with wax wings
So close to the sun
How can I justify
Flying so high
As it all comes undone

I can't pretend I'm even a friend
Skirting the edge of your life
I've heard we look good together
I'd like to see through the other's eyes

I'm finding it hard not to touch you
When you're sitting so close to me
I'm finding it hard not to breathe you
With your essence surrounding me

I've chased too many rainbows
I've sat back and enjoyed the views
When I tried to draw near, they disappeared
And I feared the same from you

I'm finding it hard not to need you
When you are smiling for me
I'm finding hard not to kiss you
With your heart so dear to me

Though it's not all that often
I can feel you when I'm in your mind
And your sweet face will not be forgotten
As I know, mine will be in time

I'm finding it hard not to think of you
Part of me wishing you'd never shared
I'm finding it hard not to ask of you
Part of me wishing I did not care

Now, you know what I mean
When I say it's a dangerous thing
Flying so close to your sun
And now I'm falling
With my melted wings
Knowing I'm not the one

So would you sit a little closer
And softly breathe my name
Hold that look a moment longer
Then smile for me just the same

I'm finding it hard to let you go
And not so easy to say Good-Bye
I'm finding it hard not to love you
As I'm finding it easy to cry

It's so hard to say Good-Bye . . .

this brought tears to my eyes.. you've written this with such a pure, heart wrenching sincerity. It's beautiful. And I like how you came back to the first stanza in a different way in the 8th, if worked wonderfully. Amazing work.

Letting go is the hardest part. Especially when you know it's coming first.

Several great verses in this piece. Absolutely beautiful and serene. "I've chased too many rainbows" verse I particularly enjoyed. Great work. :::OLd

I almost cried from this...The metaphorical references in this piece was amazingly original, and I loved the flow. You turned a cliche into an original masterpiece. This must be faved.
